Primary Times Children's Choice Awards Review

Can Princess Pumpalot and her trusty, cheeky side kick Guffy save the Wiffyville Castle from the Ghostly farting monk? This show is a very enjoyable and light-hearted slice of pantomime style fun for younger children (approx 4-9 years). It’s fast moving keeping short attention spans engaged and lots of opportunity for helping the characters out (he’s behind you!). There is, obviously, toilet humour galore which had the adults laughing along loudly with the kids and some great comedic acting. If farts are a popular topic of conversation in your house (as they are in mine) you family’s gonna love this. Oh, and the venue is quite swanky too…Grace aged 5 said “It was so funny they kept farting all the time!”

Elsa (5) said “Guffy was soooo funny and the farts were so loud ha ha. I also liked the big gorilla." Madeleine aged 9 said “I just liked all of it. All the characters were really good.”

Our young reviewers say:

Grace, aged 5: “It was so funny they kept farting all the time!”

Elsa, aged 5: “Guffy was soooo funny and the farts were so loud ha ha. I also liked the big gorilla”

Madeleine, aged 9:“I just liked all of it. All the characters were really good.”

All Edinburgh Theatre 4-Star Review

August 8, 2019

★★★★☆    Whiffy

Young Critics Scheme Le Monde (Venue 47): Fri 2 – Mon 12 Aug 2019 Review by Layza Venancio Mirhadi

Princess Pumpalot returns to the fringe for a short run at Le Monde, in a new story by Robyn Mitchell, set in a mystical version of Edinburgh.

Guffy, played by Arron Usher, finds himself a mystery to solve, which involves trying to capture ‘The ghostly farting monk”. He asks Princess Pumpalot, played by Gillian Goupillot, to solve it with him. Throughout his journey they meet many different characters – all played by Robyn Mitchell.

This show is perfect for taking any little ones who like audience interaction. There are lots of questions which have to be answered by shouting at the top of your lungs. And we have to stand up to take part in a dance when the big people have to join in to!

Farting and pooing are mentioned many times is. Which is extremely funny for the wee ones and is also a consistent part of the storyline.

Arron Usher plays Guffy with a real energy that he maintains throughout the full show. Which helps make an entertaining atmosphere, especially since its quite early in the morning. He also uses his voice really well which makes it intriguing to watch and helps you believe you are in a mystical town.

farting talent

Gillian Goupillot also maintains energy and interacts with audience as the Princess with the farting talent, which allows the audience to create a friendship with her during the show. Her movements and facial expression are consistent which makes it believable that we are in a mystical town helping her and Guffy.

Robyn Mitchell who plays several characters, from Prentice the plumber to the evil Ghostly farting monk, will definitely make you giggle.

His use of voice is loud and clear so the little ones understand. While his facial expression and body language make it believable and easy to understand when he is a different character.

A lovely mid-morning show for any family with little ones who appreciate smelly jokes and giggles

Princess pumps, hunts monks, thumps chumps, does own stunts in brand-new show

From our colleagues at The Cadies & Witchery Tours.

The Cadies & Witchery Tours co-founder, Robin Mitchell, is also the creator of the popular children's character Princess Pumpalot (The Farting Princess). Since Princess Pumpalot's inception in 2012, there have been 2 books published and 105 shows performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Robin has written a brand new show for the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe entitled Princess Pumpalot: The Ghostly Farting Monk Hunt. It's hardly surprising, with Robin's long association with the Cadies & Witchery Tours, that he's introduced a monk to his new production. Not a mad monk this time, but a farting monk. (Not that our own Mad Monk doesn't fart, you understand. It's just less of adefining characteristic, as his unsavoury personal habits are legion.)

If you've enjoyed our Ghosts & Gore Tour or our Murder & Mystery Tour in the past, you'll certainly enjoy Princess Pumpalot: The Ghostly Farting Monk Hunt.

Can Princess Pumpalot (The Farting Princess) and her best friend Guffy locate the Ghostly Farting Monk and save the Kingdom of Wiffyville from Prince Nastavia and the Low-Flying Gnomes?

With the help from Rat-A-Tat (a giant rat) and from regulars Steve the Werewolf, FAQ and The Bearded Witch, Princess Pumpalot and Guffy embark on another absurd adventure. This is a fast-paced, fun-packed show is for all the family. Warning: The Toilet of Truth returns!

Thank You Very (Very) Much

We thank our 2018 audiences from the bottom of our hearts or should that be the heart of our bottoms. What a fantastic Edinburgh Festival Fringe run we had. BIG audiences, LOTS of noise. Much FUN.

In fact, in the six years we' ve performed Princess Pumpalot shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, we've never heard so much noise out of audiences. Participation levels were off the chart. It was quite brilliant!

Thanks must also go to our venue, Le Monde in George Street. We were well looked after for the whole run. Very impressed!

And so our thoughts already move to the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and there's talk of a BRAND NEW show. More when we know more!
